My family has been in the portrait business since WWII. My grandfather John and his brother Jim both picked up the camera in the 1940's. They started a portrait studio in Muncie, Indiana shortly after the war. It was called Reid Studios. It was purchased by Lifetouch in 1971 and became the Senior Portrait arm of that business. I grew up in this business. Most of my family worked for Lifetouch or had some connection with it during the last century. But it wasn’t until my daughter was born in 2016, that I really took note. So, after moving to Steamboat in 2018, I have been focused on making this my business and to continue the legacy of my grandfather and his brother. It means so much to me to be a part of people's lives in this facet. To make people feel good and create memories that their children and their children's children can see for many years to come.

My love for art developed at a young age. As a student of Art History, I distinctly remember the music that accompanied each era and culture. I loved listening to African beats that twisted wild color and vibrations into the works I studied. The baroque music brought to life the painters of the seventeenth century. While meditative music subtly encouraged me to follow the zen-like brushstrokes across beautifully made paper. It is this experience that brings my photography through the camera lens and into a three-dimensional medium of music, brushstroke and history.

In each piece, I want to hear the vibrations of African color, the movement of meditative painting and the story of western photography that is deep rooted from my past and where I truly find the inspiration for combining craft and culture.

My love of vibrant colors and sensitive brushstrokes inspire me to create pieces that are both untamed and subdued. My love of photography motivates me to discover compositions in the post process that energize the viewer. The goal with each piece is to experiment with medium ambiguity and blur the boundaries between what is expected and what is imagined.
